What I played today, by Larry Miller

Today, an attempt at decreasing the carbon footprint for this show by avoiding electric instruments and featuring mostly acoustic instruments; in particular, the unamplified wooden guitar.

Bob Dylan: “All I Really Want To Do”
Youngbloods: “Reason To Believe”
Buffy Ste. Marie: “You’re Going To Need Somebody On Your Bond”
Tim Rose: “Hey Joe”
Jake Holmes: “Dazed and Confused” (Yes, he wrote it, Led Zeppelin stole it from him, and he never got a penny...)
Mimi & Richard Farina: “Children of Darkness”

Traffic: “You Can All Join In”
The Band: “Rag Mama, Rag”
The Spencer Davis Group: “Take This Hammer”
The Rooftop Singers: “Walk Right In”
The Modern Folk Quartet: “The Bells”

Pink Floyd: “Fearless” (request)
Eric Anderson: “The Hustler”
The Who: “Sunrise” (Pete solo; his finest moment)
Jim & Jean: “Grand Hotel” (David Blue song, sung by Jim Glover)

Tom Rush: “Joshua Gone Barbados”
Pentangle: “Bruton Town”
Taj Mahal: “Frankie and Albert”
Big Brother and the Holding Company: “Turtle Blues”
Ry Cooder: “Vigilante Man”
Bonnie Raitt: “Love Me Like a Man” (Lowell George on slide, with Freebo on bass)

The Rolling Stones: “Prodigal Son”
Stephen Stills: “Black Queen” (from “Just Roll Tape”)
Neil Young: “The Needle and the Damage Done”
Hot Tuna: “Death Don’t Have No Mercy” (request)
Fred Neil: “The Other Side of This Life” (request)

The Byrds: “He Was a Friend of Mine”
The Mamas and the Papas: “The Dancing Bear”
Crosby, Stills and Nash: “You Don’t Have To Cry”
Jefferson Airplane: “Martha”
Dino Valente: “Let’s Get Together”

Breaks music by Leo Kottke, from his first album on Takoma records.

We don’t know if this affected the carbon footprint for this show, but maybe it got you thinking about it.

And no, we decided not to celebrate by throwing a ukulele off the roof of the Walker Memorial building at M.I.T, as it wouldn’t accomplish anything, and would be a waste of a perfectly good musical instrument...

See you in two weeks!
